Parenting can be challenging, but finding simple, effective strategies to make it easier doesn’t have to be. A parent created special parents education as a platform for other parents. It shares the latest evidence based practices used every day by professionals. We focus on breaking down research, practices and strategies in a way that’s easy to understand and apply at home.

About Me

I’m Sanna Malik, a Pakistani-Canadian who has been working with children and families with unique needs and abilities since 2017. Early in my career, I realized that lasting change happens most effectively within the home. This change is led by educated and empowered parents. That’s why in 2021, I founded Special Parents Education—an online platform dedicated to offering reliable, compassionate resources for parents navigating the challenges of raising children with special needs.

My Mission

Raising a child with special needs can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Through this blog, I provide parents with an understanding of the tools and approaches used by professionals working with children every day. My goal is to create a supportive space where parents can find insights, practical tips, and personal stories to help them thrive on their unique parenting journey. I’m here to guide, inform, and connect.

Why I Started This Website

Special Parents Education was born out of my experiences as a student, observing professionals providing therapy to children with Autism. I quickly recognized that success isn’t just about what happens during therapy sessions; the most progress occurs when learning environments—both in-center and at home—are aligned. However, not all professionals have the time to equip parents with the tools they need to continue the learning at home. That’s when I realized I could help bridge that gap. I decided to use my knowledge to create a space where parents could learn, connect, and find the support they need to make informed decisions about their child’s education and care.

My Approach

Empathy: I understand the unique challenges that parents face, and my work is built on offering compassionate support. I strive to be a resource that parents can rely on for understanding and guidance through their journey.

Approach

Empowerment: I am committed to equipping parents with the right tools and strategies to feel confident in raising their child. My goal is to ensure every parent is well-prepared to make informed decisions with the knowledge and resources they need.

Holistic: My approach considers all aspects of a child’s development and the dynamics of the family. I offer well-rounded strategies that take into account the individual needs of each family to foster overall growth and well-being.

Evidence-Based: I rely on proven, research-backed practices to guide the strategies and tools I share with parents. Every solution is grounded in credible, current evidence to ensure it works effectively in real-world situations.

Flexibility: Every family is different, and I understand that one solution doesn’t fit all. My guidance is adaptable, ensuring that I can tailor strategies to meet the unique needs of each child and their family.

Connection: Creating a supportive space for parents to learn from each other is a core value of my work. I aim to foster a sense of community where parents can connect, share experiences, and find solidarity on their parenting journey.

Practicality: My goal is to provide parents with actionable strategies that can be easily implemented in daily life. I focus on practical solutions that bring immediate value and make a real impact on the home environment.
